Coming this month, Ford will reveal its newest offering of the Taurus lineup at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show, marking a first-time debut for the blue oval nameplate in the Chinese market.
In a market where large sedans reign supreme, the 2016 Asian-spec Taurus was designed with the Chinese demographic in mind. With prototype versions spotted in the U.S., China, and Australia, it is expected that the newest offering will be built on an elongated version of the CD4 platform, which is also found on the 2016 Lincoln Continental.
Predicted powertrain options include a four-cylinder or six-cylinder EcoBoost engine with a standard front-wheel-driv, however, an all-wheel-drive version is also rumored.
Along with the Ford Taurus debut, the motor company will also reveal six other vehicles including the Ford GT, Focus RS, and Focus ST at the 2015 Shanghai Auto Show next week. “We are looking forward to…continuing our delivery of great products and innovative technologies,” Ford China CEO John Lawler said in a statement. “With the new Ford Taurus, our Ford Performance vehicles, and a few other surprises, there will truly be something for everyone.”
A U.S.-spec Taurus will be unveiled later this year, so be sure to stay tuned to Packey Webb Ford for the latest news from Ford.
