Ford Returns to Le Mans with Four GT Racers

Ford GTIn 1966, Ford had an astounding 1-2-3 victory at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France. Now, 50 year later, Ford returns to Le Mans with four GT racers in hopes of reclaiming that victory.

The four Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GTs will run numbers 66, 67, 68, and 69. They will be running in the GTE Pro class during the Le Mans 24 Hours race on June 18th and 19th.

“It was great to see all four Ford GTs up there on the Le Mans entry list today,” said Dave Pericak, Ford Performance global director, in a statement. “Newcomers are by no means guaranteed an entry, whatever their history or ambitions, so we thank the ACO for giving Ford the opportunity for a four car assault in June.”

Currently cars #66 and #67 are running in the FIA World Endurance Championship and will get to keep their racing numbers for Le Mans. The other two cars that are running in the IMSA WeatherTechSportCar Championship will become cars #68 and #69.

Here at Packey Webb Ford, we are excited to see Ford return to this high level of racing and can’t wait to see how the Ford GT cars will perform in this historic race.
